FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

Everyone, at some point, either before or during their potential project, will have questions. This section answers a few of the more common ones, however, if your question has not been answered on this page, please email us at info@shawgardencare.co.uk and we will do our utmost to answer it for you.

Q?

How much will my project cost?

A.

The answer to that question is really down to you! Shaw Gardens will always try to keep our costs as low as possible, obviously we don’t work for nothing, nor do we charge unrealistically high prices. The cost will always be down to a number of factors i.e, which supplier is used, product availability and current cost of materials being the main factors.

We will always use our regular suppliers to get the lowest possible prices, such as Travis Perkin, Jewson , B&Q or Ashley Reclamation to name but a few.

Q?

Are you insured?

A.

Yes, we have public liability of up to £5 million.

Q?

As a homeowner, is there a good reason why I should bother with landscaping?

A.

Landscaping adds value to your home and your neighbourhood: the right landscaping can increase the value of your home by 15%, allowing owners to recoup 100 to 200% of their investment. Your landscape is one of the first things prospective buyers notice when they visit your house and estate agents estimate that 95% of home buyers will not even get out of their car if the house lacks “curb appeal”.

Q?

What if I have a big project but a small budget?

A.

We can co-ordinate your project to be completed in phases, addressing the most important or relevant items first and then completing other, smaller projects as the budget for them becomes available.

we are looking to be your ‘contractor of choice’ for many years, so we are in no rush to do it all at once. We will work with you to outline a plan, budget and timeframe that fit YOUR needs!

Q?

What is ‘hard & ‘soft’ landscaping?

A.

'Hard landscaping' refers to the non-living elements of a landscape, it includes elements made from concrete, brick, stone, or wood. For example, constructing a patio or decking area is a hard project, as is a brick walkway, a stone wall, or a wooden fence.

‘Soft landscaping' refers to projects involving plants, shrubs, trees, flowers and grass/turf.

Q?

What about maintenance?

A.

Shaw Gardens offer a number of maintenance options: we can visit weekly, fortnightly, monthly or even annually in some cases. For lawned/grassed area’s we offer clean-up, aeration, overseeding and feeding schedules; again this can be discussed with you if you are interested in keeping your garden looking its absolute best.
